#8 The Change You Resist Is A Gift
Transforming Uncertainty Into Your Next Breakthrough

"What if I fall? Oh, but my darling, what if you fly?" - Erin Hanson
The quote hangs in my massage therapist’s office, printed over the image of a butterfly. I’ve seen it before, but this time, it stops me.
Lately, I’ve been caught between two worlds—the life I’ve built at home and the career waiting for me on the other side of my parental leave.
In six weeks, I’ll be going back to work after having my third child. And beneath all the scheduling, the planning, and the figuring out, two deeper questions gnawed at me:
What if my connection with my kids weakens?
What if the momentum I’ve built for the Vibration Movement slows down?
When I sat with these two questions, it hit me: I was afraid of the unknown.
That’s what uncertainty does. It makes us hesitate. It makes us doubt. It makes us cling to what’s familiar—even when what’s ahead could be exactly what we need.
And yet, as I stared at that butterfly, a new thought surfaced:
What if the change I was resisting was guiding me exactly where I needed to go?
Big Idea: The Real Struggle With Change Is The Unknown
Most of us think we fear change, but really, we fear not knowing what comes next.
We don’t fear the past—it’s already happened. But the future? It’s unwritten. And when we don’t know what to expect, our minds tend to fill in the blanks with the worst-case scenario.
But the unknown isn’t just a risk. It’s also a possibility. What if, instead of resisting change, we learned how to work with it?
How to Stop Resisting and Start Transforming
#1 Flip the Fear
Fear has one job: to show you the worst-case scenario on repeat until you believe it’s inevitable.
And it’s convincing.
What if I fail? What if I fall behind? What if I lose what I love?
But before you accept those questions as truth, ask their opposite. For me, that looked like this:
What if time apart from my children makes our connection deeper, more intentional?
What if going back to work helps me get more done—not less– and accelerates The Vibration Movement?
The things we cling to aren’t always being taken from us. Sometimes, God is expanding, refining, or transforming your life into something greater than you imagined.
#2 Focus on What You Can Influence
Fear thrives when we feel powerless. And sure, we don’t always control change itself. But we do control where we focus our attention and how we make sense of our experiences.
Ask yourself:
What is God trying to teach me?
What might need more attention?
What do I need to let go of?
When you stop trying to control everything, trust in God’s plan and focus on what’s within reach, you realize—you have more power than fear wants you to believe.
#3 Invite God into the Process
Change isn’t just something we endure—it’s something we step into with God, learning to trust, respond, and participate in what’s unfolding.
This might look like opening yourself to prayer, leaning into wisdom from sacred texts, listening closely to people you trust, or paying attention to what creation is revealing. These are the quiet channels through which many believe God—or a Higher Power—communicates.
For my return to work, I heard the message loud and clear — simplify. I wanted to be everywhere at once to maximize the time I have left on my parental leave—writing, growing my business, deepening my skills, and spending quality time with my family. But I had to get honest:
What needs to happen now, and what can wait?
Transitions don’t demand that we do everything at once. They ask us to do the right things, at the right time.
Closing Thoughts
Not all change is easy. Not all transitions are smooth. But every time we step into the unknown with our Higher Power, we open ourselves up to something new.
And maybe that’s the point.
We aren’t meant to stay the same. Growth isn’t supposed to feel predictable. And security? It isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about becoming the kind of person who can meet whatever comes next.
You can resist it, or you can lean into it. What’s ahead isn’t meant to break you—it’s meant to build you.
And that, my darling, is how we fly.

Coming next: We’ve explored the four clues you’re blocking your core vibration—reactivity, physical tension, feeling stuck and discomfort with change. Next, we’ll dive into a lack of confidence and how to learn from it to cultivate your vibration. For more context on the clues, check out this post.
